Note: The Screenshots are from my E61 which has the firmware v3.0633.09.04 ...
1) Connect your headphones, open the standard music player and play a song
2) Make a call to a number...this pauses the music
3) During the call, switch back to the music player(by keeping the menu key depressed) and play the music( Make sure you reduce the volume a bit, cos the intense volume may hurt your ears!!!!...)
4) However comming to the saddest part, the volume returns to normal once the call is disconnected.... Neway have a look at this Equaliser setting, which I had to use since the volume was way too loud....
I hope I helped you get the actual taste of the Nokia E61's sound output... The sound you get at the output is two times more than normal....(May be more than that...)

man, some guy at nokia should let users have the option to get the volume up.
If I whatch a cartoon episode in the train, sometimes if have trouble hearing it over my headphones.
Yes you are right.. The volume is way too low... I use sony ericcson in ear headphones that manages this problem.. Will post on that soon... Thanks for visiting my blog! :-)
You don't have to do all this things to raise the volume up. All you have to do is go to Tools->Settings->Enhancement and choose Other detects as Text phone then your volume will have the same effect as you wrote.
I have tried it after you told me macalex, but there seems to be no change. It just asks me to connect a text phone device. The volume during a call is very high, try it again. But there may be a difference in firmware or probably the product code which may make it happen.
Thanks for visiting my blog! :-)
I just tried the trick with the Enhancement/Other/Text Phone...
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thats strange... doesnt work for me.. which headset did you use?
WOW MACALEX IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANKS A LOT BRO
Guys, I am unable to get the volume up. You are the last rescue point. When I do the text phone option my E61i says "connect a text phone". Any calls after that and volume still sucks big time.
Sorry buddy, I lost my E61 recently... Anyways, there is no resolution to the volume issue in both E61 and E61i
